Is it fun?
Yes, it's really fun to be a scientist. Personally, what I like is that when people talk about some big problem facing the world, there's a chance that I or someone I know is actually out solving it.
Is it hard?
What I've learned about whether anything is hard, is that any time you get started you will feel totally clueless and not sure about where to begin. This is normal, but that doesn't men that it's impossible to do. Instead, if you get some books, talk to other people who are doing the same stuff, and then practice on your own, I bet you could get really good at science. In fact, most schools have a science club or team, and most cities have a Makerspace/Hackerspace or something similar, so you mgiht check those out.
